Patterns are the place to start, work out your problem areas with your patterns, you won't want to have problems with the real thing....1/2 styrofoam makes great patterns, easy cut, easy form and fairly rigid material, unlike cardboard that kinks, or has difficulty retaining it's shape....

If you have a need to mount other pieces on your pattern, then it might be wise to go with Plywood.  Staying with the same thickness helps with alignment and distances, both things that you need to consider.

Finally, the shaft is in, the main pulley is installed, and wouldn't you know it, it fits..........chuckle  (will miracles never cease)

Keeping the water on the outside of the boat are the clamps on "every" hose that you have.  The clamps shown in the picture are Stainless Steel and have no serration grooves to cut, deform or break letting in the water.........to me these are important, they cost a little more, but this type of clamp is the best I've found, remember, the little things that keep the water out........

Etek002.jpg

Wow !!  it fits, now the mounting blocks must be made and glassed to the hull and it can stay in place.......  It's kinda neat to be able to pull motor and shaft and lift it out...

Etek005.jpg

With the Etek mounted in an enclosed housing I can place the cooling fan on the exposed side, bore the exit holes in the front part of the enclosure and it will stay cool throughout the amperage range.  The mount was constructed for 2 Etek's, we're going to test with one and have the option for a second.

More to come...........
